PROJECT DESCRIPTION

GMEP Engineers provided the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designs for this 7,400 square foot restaurant, including a 2,400 square foot patio. This restaurant is the 3rd location in Orange County for the award-winning San Diego-based eatery. Known for its trophy tacos and perfect margaritas, this location creates a unique dining experience based upon the outdoor Huntington Beach vibe. Our team took part in the careful and precise coordination of this project to ensure this vision could be achieved.

The Mechanical Design included (5) 10-ton and (1) 5-ton roof packaged heat pumps as well as (7) type 1 hood systems. Coordination with the lighting and ceiling features while maintaining an even air distribution was a key factor in optimizing design visions without sacrificing performance. This location also includes several folding windows and doors which create a unique building envelope. GMEP Engineers modeled these components to ensure that energy efficiency standards were met.

Our Electrical Design for the space included a 1,600 amp 3-phase electrical service to power all the equipment and lighting, and T-24 energy calculation certificates for the indoor lighting. This space includes a dedicated electrical room located on a mezzanine above the kitchen. The configuration of this room prompted multi-trade coordination to avoid conflicts and also creative thinking to provide solutions to mitigate the heat generated inside the room.

The Plumbing Design system included a series of condensing tankless water heaters to serve the hot water system, a 4,000-gallon grease interceptor for the kitchen, and underground plumbing to serve the fixtures at the main bar without adding imposing structural elements.

The location in Bella Terra is one of two Puesto projects that GMEP Engineers has worked on with Architects Orange. The other location is in Anaheim, CA, that was also recently completed and built.
